Religion teachers deal with topics of systematic theology, but standard textbooks do not prepare them for this endeavour in an appropriate way. The essay outlines reasons for this and presents the research project named Systematic Theology for Schools: In order to offer systematic theology in a meaningful way for teachers, knowledge of systematic theological expertise of active teachers is necessary. The project achieves this by means of narration analysis and a standardised questionnaire. The essay presents approach, methodology and first results of the project and outlines further questions for the dialogue between systematic theology and qualitative-empirical research.
