Christian Höger, Theologische Fakultät Universität Luzern

Christian Höger, born in 1975 in Nuremberg (Germany), studied Catholic theology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt and the University of Lucerne from 1995 to 2001. As a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, he obtained his theology diploma in Eichstätt in 2001. From 1998 to 2005 he studied pedagogy at the Catholic University of Eichstätt and the Julius-Maximilians-University of Wuerzburg. He wrote his dissertation from 2001 to 2006 as a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Wuerzburg. The doctoral thesis "Farewell to the Creator God? World Explanations by High School Graduates in Qualitative-Empirical Religious Education Analysis" was published as a monograph in 2008.

From 2006 to 2008 he was a trainee teacher for Catholic religious education at grammar schools at the state seminary in Karlsruhe, after which he worked full-time as a religion teacher at two state grammar schools in Pforzheim in the service of the Archdiocese of Freiburg in Breisgau until 2010.

Christian Höger then worked until August 2021 as an academic (senior) councillor for Catholic theology/religious education at the Freiburg i.Br. University of Education, where he provided academic and practical training to teacher training students for primary and secondary level I. In 2019, he habilitated at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Fribourg i.Br (subject area: Religious Education, Didactics of Religious Education and Catechetics) and published his habilitation thesis “Creation, Big Bang and Evolution – Attitudes of Pupils in Biographical Change” in 2020, a qualitative-empirical longitudinal study.

On 1 September 2021, he accepted the appointment to the Chair of Religious Education and Catechetics at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Lucerne.
